When it was announced in July that beloved goaltender Marc Andre Fleury had signed a brand new contract extension with the Las Vegas Golden Knights I never expected that he would ever don the jersey of another National Hockey League franchise. As it turns out however I could not have been more wrong.

Just a few short weeks after signing his brand new deal with the Las Vegas Golden Knights the veteran goaltender left fans stunned by wearing the jersey of another NHL team, and one that you simply wouldn't expect to see him in. Now if I gave you a free guess you would almost certainly think of the Pittsburgh Penguins right out of the gate, they are after all his former team, but it was instead a team that came way out of left field.

Fleury was wearing a San Jose Sharks jersey on Thursday night when he hit the ice for a charity event put on by Boston Bruins star forward Patrice Bergeron and former Boston Bruins forward Simon Gagne. The event was held in Quebec City, Quebec at the Centre Videotron and that is due to the fact that both Bergeron and Gagne are French Canadian players. The annual event known as the Bergeron-Gagne Pro Am features a bunch of French Canadian players from around the league, including Fleury himself, wearing the wrong jerseys.

As a result Fleury was not the only player wearing a strange jersey on Thursday night as he was accompanied by a number of other players from around the National Hockey League. Among those in attendance were Florida Panthers star Jonathan Huberdeau, who was also wearing a Sharks jersey, and Winnipeg Jets forward Matthieu Perreault and fellow Golden Knights goaltender Malcom Subban were both wearing Bruins jerseys.

It certainly made for a strange sight although it's important to remember that all of this was done for a good cause and in the name of charity. Thankfully I haven't seen a single negative response from fans on social media for what would traditionally be considered a sports faux pas and everyone seems to be having a good laugh at just how absurd it all looks.

Here are a few images from the event last night.
